Representatives from The Friends of Grappenhall Library pleased to be invited to the 25th Warrington East (St Wilfrid’s) Scout Group to be awarded a cheque.
The scouts had raised £100 for their local community library and the image shows Jan and John Ashby receiving it. The donation will go to our fund to improve facilities.

If you have been in the library recently you will probably know that we have been allocated a grant from Wren and The Big Lottery Fund.
This is to help us improve our building for all our users. A new kitchen and larger toilet will be added as well as new side door access.
Regrettably the library will have to be closed from January 16th 2013 while this work is completed. We expect all to be complete in 6-8 weeks after builders can start, so Easter.
A grand re-opening is planned to, so please look out for details.
The changes will be great for all visitors, young and not so young!

Join us on Saturday 8th December 2012 from 2pm until 4pm for our Christmas fayre. It is after our main library session and police surgery that day.
The venue is Grappenhall community Library in Victoria Avenue . Its already looking very festive with our Xmas tree and decorations going up.
There will be lots going on for all ages, cakes and treats, tombola and other stalls.
A ‘name the bear’ is running too. For just 50p you can name and win the bear here on the right. You don’t have to be at the Fayre for this, just ask the library volunteers and pick your name any time we are open.
Volunteers on the day are most welcome, as is tombola prizes (have you a spare bottle of something?) and cakes.
We have already had a stunning donation response from local businesses including:
John Stuart Motor Company – Free car MOT
Cheshire Beauty Associates – Shellac Polish
Grappenhall Co-Operative – Food Hamper
Hair 2 Order – £10 gift voucher & products
Big Blue in Grappenhall – 2 x fish & chip meals
Green Room Florist – Amarylis Gift Pot
Starbucks – Coffee & mug gift bag
Wine from Grappenhall Post Office and The Springbrook
Hughes Chemist – Hair colour
.. and may more promised including:
Meal for two at the Rams Head, Grappenhall
Holiday care voucher from Little Superstars
At five tickets for £1 its got to be better odds than the lottery! Tickets only available from 2pm Saturday at the fayre, raffle will be drawn at 3.45pm just before we close for the day.
Contact shelleymillar [at] btinternet.com or ask any of our staff at the desk if you want to help.
A poster for this event can be downloaded here . If you could print it and display it on a noticeboard or pass it on (to spread the word) that would be great.
The library is also running a fun Christmas quiz for adults and children. Pick up an entry form in the library, right up to Christmas. Good luck !
